The Polish Defense Forces have raised the readiness level of components of the air defense to the highest level, launched air alert, and maintained ground anti-aircraft systems and radar reconnaissance in the highest state of readiness.
Russia’s Escalation on Ukraine
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces indicated that “we are facing an escalation of Russian actions aimed at Ukraine’s infrastructure and civilian population.” While monitoring the situation in Ukraine continuously, the Polish Armed Forces remain in constant readiness to ensure Poland’s airspace security and take appropriate actions whenever Poland’s security or the security of the allied airspace is at risk.
Key Statistics of Russian Attacks
According to Ukrainian data, Russia used over 800 Shahed drones, nine Iskander-K guided missiles, and four Iskander-M ballistic missiles overnight. The Ukrainian air defense shot down 747 drones and nine missiles. Attacks targeted twenty cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kryvyi Rih, Bila Tserkva, and others. In most cities, civilian buildings were the main targets. The Russian attacks also hit the Ukrainian government’s headquarters in Kyiv. In the first seven days of September, Russia launched almost 2,000 drones against Ukraine (compared to over 4,100 drones in August).
