On Wednesday, May 27, at 6:07 PM, a motorcyclist collided with a BMW at the intersection of Puławska and Olesińska streets in Warsaw, subsequently abandoning his bike and fleeing the scene on foot.
Collision at the Puławska-Olesińska Intersection
Emergency services, including the fire department, police, and two medical rescue teams, responded to a reported accident involving a BMW and a KTM motorcycle. The impact was significant, forcing the car into roadside crash barriers.
The female driver of the BMW was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to a hospital for further evaluation. Authorities confirmed she was sober at the time of the accident.
Witness Accounts of Dangerous Driving
Witnesses reported that a group of motorcyclists was traveling along Puławska Street from the city center. The rider of the KTM had allegedly been performing dangerous maneuvers, riding on one wheel, and accelerating heavily.
Observers estimated the motorcyclist’s speed to be in excess of 100 km/h. As the BMW driver attempted to change lanes to turn onto Olesińska Street, the motorcycle struck the side of the vehicle, sending the rider over the car.
Investigation and Potential Formal Lapses
Despite sustaining a high-impact crash, the motorcyclist initially claimed he was uninjured. Amidst the confusion at the scene, he abandoned his motorcycle and fled on foot.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the suspect and determine the exact sequence of events. Preliminary checks of the motorcycle’s license plates suggest a lack of mandatory liability insurance, and authorities are currently securing local surveillance footage to support the case.
