Warsaw police have arrested a 48-year-old lawyer suspected of issuing fake bomb threats and assassination warnings against the President of Poland and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Investigation and Arrest
Officers from the capital’s Counter-Terrorism Division, in coordination with the Warsaw-Śródmieście District Prosecutor’s Office, apprehended a 48-year-old suspect. The man is accused of impersonating various individuals to submit fraudulent reports regarding alleged assassination plots against high-ranking state officials.
The operation involved counter-terrorism specialists from the CPKP BOA unit and forensics experts. Due to the nature of the threat, police were required to execute a forced entry into the suspect’s apartment to conduct a search.
Evidence and Illegal Materials
During the raid, investigators seized laptops, mobile devices, official service badges, and various identity documents belonging to other individuals. The search also uncovered illegal firearms, ammunition, and 10 artillery shells stored in the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect reportedly enclosed illegal documents and ammunition in his correspondence to lend credibility to his threats. Investigators noted that these tactics were also designed to frame innocent individuals for his actions.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
The suspect faces seven charges, including illegal possession of weapons, identity theft, and filing false reports regarding national security threats. The court has approved a three-month pre-trial detention period, and the accused faces a potential sentence of up to eight years in prison.
Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński confirmed the arrest, noting that while this case involves false alarms and impersonation, it is distinct from other recent incidents handled by the ministry.
