US Forces Strike Iran in Response to Regional Missile Attacks

Following Tuesday’s Iranian missile and drone barrages across the Middle East, US CENTCOM forces conducted defensive strikes on Qeshm Island to neutralize threats despite a tenuous regional ceasefire.

Escalation Amidst a Ceasefire

The United States military responded to Iranian aggression on June 2 after Tehran launched multiple ballistic missiles toward neighboring countries. CENTCOM confirmed that while none of the projectiles hit their intended targets, the actions necessitated a defensive military reaction.

Intercepted Attacks and Defensive Strikes

US and Bahraini air defenses intercepted three missiles targeting Bahrain, while two projectiles aimed at Kuwait failed to reach their marks. CENTCOM also shot down three Iranian attack drones that posed a threat to civilian vessels navigating regional waters.

In a direct response, American forces conducted strikes against an Iranian military ground control point on Qeshm Island. The military reported no US personnel were injured during these engagements.

Refuting Iranian Claims

CENTCOM officials explicitly rejected claims made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps regarding successful strikes on the US 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain or regional air bases. The command emphasized that all Iranian attempts to target US assets were unsuccessful.

Ongoing Diplomatic Tensions

The military exchanges follow a series of similar incidents earlier in the week, including the downing of two missiles aimed at a base in Kuwait on June 1. Amidst the violence, President Donald Trump stated that discussions with Iran are continuing daily, though the outcome remains uncertain.
