Middle East Escalation: Tehran Blames Washington for Israeli Actions

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghei has accused the United States of direct complicity in Israeli military operations, asserting that no Israeli action occurs without American coordination and support.

Tehran’s Stance on U.S. Responsibility

Esmail Baghei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the international community does not believe Israel acts independently of the United States. He emphasized that the policies of the “Zionist regime” cannot be decoupled from American political influence in the region.

Baghei further defended the recent Iranian strikes as a defensive measure under Article 51 of the UN Charter. He warned that the ongoing exchange of fire would only complicate diplomatic processes with Washington and deepen Tehran’s existing distrust.

Explosions in the Capital

During the Foreign Ministry’s press conference, a loud explosion shook the building, accompanied by sounds of air defense systems being activated. While official sources have not confirmed the origin of the blast, Iranian media reported that a hostile drone had been shot down over Tehran.

Military Engagements and Targets

Israeli forces struck “command centers” in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday, resulting in two deaths and eleven injuries. Iran subsequently warned of a response, followed by Israel reporting a rocket attack from Iranian territory, which was intercepted.

On Monday, Israeli airstrikes targeted military infrastructure in central and western Iran. Reports indicate that Karoun petrochemical plants in Khuzestan were affected, while Israel stated it targeted surface-to-surface missile launchers and non-energy infrastructure. Iran launched a retaliatory wave of missiles on Monday morning.

Diplomatic Context and Trump’s Remarks

Prior to the latest surge in violence, U.S. President Donald Trump remarked to the Financial Times that Israel would need to accept any deal reached between the U.S. and Iran. Trump also told Axios that the U.S. was nearing a final agreement with Tehran, expressing a desire to prevent the current conflict from jeopardizing the potential deal.
