Polish MEP Criticizes Use of EU Recovery Funds for ‘Swingers Club,’ ‘Solariums’

MEP Calls for Debate on Alleged Misuse of EU Funds

European Parliament member Patryk Jaki of the Law and Justice party called on Parliament President Roberta Metsola to open a debate on the alleged misuse of funds from the European Recovery Fund (KPO). He claimed during a session that the funds were used for the purchase of yachts, solariums, and other leisure items, rather than their intended purpose of supporting families and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.P/ppHis request was rejected by Metsola because the matter had already been addressed in the agenda prior to the session.

Criticism from Opposition MEP Andrzej Halicki

European Parliament member Andrzej Halicki from the Civic Coalition accused the government of hypocrisy regarding the rule of law and the treatment of EU funds, alleging that the government was not transparent in its handling of the funds.

Procurator’s Investigation into Alleged Misuse of Funds

Meanwhile, the Warsaw Procurator’s Office and the European Procurator are investigating the possible misuse of funds allocated under the National Recovery Plan (KPO). The investigation follows media reports raising concerns about the legitimacy of disbursements from the fund, with funds allegedly being used for yacht purchases, saunas, coffee machines, and other leisure items rather than their intended purpose.
