Hollands’ F-35 fighter jets assisted in shooting down Russian drones that violated Polish airspace, according to the Dutch military.
Dutch Prime Minister Confirmation
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said, “This incident shows the danger of Russian aggression to European security. It’s good that our F-35 fighter jets could provide support.” The prime minister added that he discussed the incident with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Polish Defense Ministry Statement
Polish Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Jacek Goryszewski said that the operation to neutralize the drones involved not just fighter jets but also helicopters, but did not want to say too much. “All available forces and means, both allied and domestic, will continue to be raised to ensure security,” Goryszewki said.
Drone Mission Details
The Ministry of Administration and Internal Security spokesperson Karolina Gałecka reported that seven drones and the remains of one unidentified projectile were discovered during the violation of Polish airspace late last night. Remnants of drones were found in Cześnik, Czosnówka, and Wryki in Lubelszczyzna, but also in Krzywowierzba-Kolonia, Wohyń, and Wyhalew, all located in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. In the latter case, remains of an unidentified projectile were found. Additionally, remnants of drones were found in Mniszków in the Łódź Voivodeship and Oleśnica in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
