Emergency services evacuated one metro carriage on the 1st line at Warsaw’s Plac Wilsona station Thursday after brake failure caused smoke. No injuries reported.

Smoke rises at Wilson Square metro station

A metro carriage on the Warsaw A-line sparked concerns and required fire department assistance after its brakes overheated at Plac Wilsona station on 12 October. The metro was safely evacuated and parked on a sidetrack for further inspection.

Five firefighting teams deployed

Five fire service units, including four rescue and firefighting teams and the metro’s own rescue service, responded to the incident at 11:15 CET.

Operations concluded without issues

Passengers exited the metro safely, and all operations were resumed by 12:30 CET with no ongoing disruptions to metro service.
