Polish amateur groups in the PRL era actively recorded reports of unexplained phenomena, preserving accounts in archives that contain unique materials on mysterious events throughout the country.
Warsaw UFO Society “UFO-Video”: The Polk Archive
Robert Bernatowicz, former Radio ZET and Polsat News reporter, shared materials from the “UFO-Video” club’s archive. Founded in 1981 with a purpose to document eyewitness accounts of unusual events, they recorded strange luminous lights, flying objects, and one case of two green humanoids spotted on a beach in August 1981.
The Polish “X-Files”: Extraterrestrial Connections
One particularly intriguing report came from an anonymous 47-year-old plastics technician who claimed to have seen two green humanoids on the beach. His account, written in meticulous detail, was stored in the “UFO-Video” archive, now curated by Bernatowicz.
Witnesses and Anonymity: Protecting Truth or Spreading Fear?
Some witnesses insisted on anonymity, fearing ridicule. Others, like Kazimierz Bzowski, a local ufologist, wrote strictly codified accounts to protect the identities of those who had seen strange phenomena.
Finding Truth Amid Skepticism
A significant number of reports recorded odd clusters of lights and unidentified objects over Poland in the 1970s and 1980s. Zenon Januszewski, a member of the “UFO-Video,” took on the task of preserving these testimonies, eventually handing them over to Bernatowicz.
