The Polish Military Police discovered Soviet anti-tank missile launchers while searching a site in Józefów, Mazovia on Saturday morning.
Discovery in Józefów
The Military Police informed of an ongoing investigation in the Otwock County’s Józefów, near Warsaw. A CPP grenade launcher was found, similar to the Fagot system used by the Soviets. An expert from the Military Police’s Forensic Laboratory is currently on the scene with pyrotechnicians and deminers.
History of the Fagot System
The Fagot set, designed for anti-tank warfare, was included in Soviet army equipment in 1970. It consisted of a portable set with a semi-automatic guidance system, capable of targeting stationary or moving tanks (up to 60 km/h) with a range of 70 to 2000 m. Poland’s armed forces also utilized this system.
Russian Drones Over Polish Territory
This week, the Military Police conducted a search and secure operation for 19 Russian drones that entered Polish territory on September 9-10. Over 200 soldiers and more than 50 Military Police vehicles were involved in securing all crash sites on Polish airspace.
The Operational Command of the Services confirmed that search efforts for the drones are still ongoing. The discovery of drone parts may pose a threat to health and safety, therefore the public is advised not to approach or handle them.
