The Polish Institute of Meteorology (IMGW) has issued first-level warnings for thunderstorms in two regions, with an 80% probability of these dangerous phenomena occurring.
Thunderstorms in Southern Poland
Thunderstorms are predicted to accompany strong rainfall of between 20 to 35 millimeters with winds reaching up to 75 kilometers per hour. This warning covers almost the entire region except for the northern districts. The Institute warns that the phenomena may last until 11 AM.
Thunderstorms in Warmia-Masuria Region
In the northern part of Poland, specifically Warmia-Masuria, there is also an 80% chance of thunderstorms affecting almost the entire region except for the Elbląg area. The storms are expected to hit until 1 PM and are predicted to follow a similar course to those in Southern Poland.
Strong Winds on the Polish Coast
The Polish coastline from Świnoujście to Hel is under a warning for strong winds with an average speed of up to 50 kilometers per hour, and gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour. Locally, thunderstorms may accompany these winds. The risk is estimated at 80%.
Heavy Rainfall in Podkarpacie Region
Heavy rainfall with a moderate intensity is predicted, with up to 40 millimeters of rain in some areas. The warning covers almost the entire Podkarpacie region. In southeastern Poland, the rainfall will persist from Tuesday afternoon through the evening. Locally, thunderstorms are possible.}
