Presidential Interview: Poland Must Prepare for War to Ensure Peace

Polish President Andrzej Duda tells Bild.de that only full readiness for war can guarantee peace, adding that some Western nations, including Germany, have emboldened Russia financially and economically to attack Ukraine.

Preparing for Russian Attacks

During a recent interview with the German newspaper Bild, Polish President Andrzej Duda emphasized the need for preparedness against Russian drone attacks. He expressed satisfaction with the anti-drone operations, though only three or four drones had been shot down, and none of them had caused any casualties among Polish soldiers or civilians.

Policy Criticism and Support for Trump

Duda also criticized Germany’s border controls and their policy on migrants. In his view, these policies led to errors that Poland did not make. The President stated that Polish entrepreneurs and residents near the border are now suffering due to these controls. In addition, Duda strongly supports Donald Trump’s call to stop buying Russian oil. He believes that all countries desiring peace and freedom should stop financing Russia, as engaging in business with the country only emboldens Moscow.

NATO and the War in Ukraine

Responding to a question on what Poland and NATO would do if Russia attacked with hundreds of drones simultaneously, Duda expressed confidence that such attacks on NATO territory would not occur. However, he asserted that Poland must do everything necessary to be prepared for war, as only readiness can ensure peace.
