Exotic Kangaroo Spotted in Krakow City Centre

A kangaroo was spotted roaming in Krakow, Poland, on Wednesday, September 17, with multiple sightings reported across the city.

Kangaroo Sighting Reports

The first sighting was reported on Monday, September 15, at 3:00 AM in Garlicy Murowanej, as recorded by a reader who captured a video of the kangaroo. On Wednesday, residents reported seeing the kangaroo in various locations, including the Tysiąclecia housing estate and near the PKP Batowice train station.

By 3:00 PM on Wednesday, social media posts confirmed that the kangaroo had been spotted on Dunikowskiego Street. The Straży Miejskiej (Krakow Municipal Guard) confirmed receiving reports of a kangaroo roaming the city, particularly in the Nowa Huta district.

Official Response

The Straży Miejskiej was informed about the kangaroo sightings and had patrols searching for the animal. However, Marek Anioł, spokesperson for the Krakow Municipal Guard, emphasized that they do not have the authority to capture the kangaroo.

Possible Origin

The Gazeta Krakowska reported that the kangaroo may have originated from an agritourism farm in Maszyce. Local media are urging anyone who spots the kangaroo to contact the Krakowskie Towarzystwo Opieki nad Zwierzętami (Krakow Animal Care Society).
