Polish President Andrzej Duda, accompanied by First Lady, will start a visit to the United States on Sunday, September 21. During this trip, President Duda will participate in the general debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to Marcin Przydacz, head of the President’s International Policy Office, President Duda’s address will focus on security issues and will present Poland’s perspective on the future of international relations and global order.
Meetings on the Sidelines of the UN General Assembly
President Duda’s minister, Marcin Przydacz, confirmed that alongside the General Assembly, there will be bilateral and multilateral meetings in various formats. He expressed conviction that there will be direct contact with US President Donald Trump.
Przydacz also mentioned the possibility of President Duda meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky and noted that contacts between politicians at the UN are common due to the small size of the assembly hall.
Participation of Polish Officials
Polish President Andrzej Duda and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski, will participate in the 80th UN General Assembly session together. This marks the first time both politicians will undertake a common foreign trip.
UN General Assembly Structure
The UN General Assembly consists of representatives from all member states, each with one vote. It holds annual regular sessions. Decisions on key issues are made by a 2/3 majority vote, while other matters are decided by a simple majority.

Separately, the UN Human Rights Council recently condemned an Israeli attack in Qatar’s capital, which was deemed to threaten peace and stability in the region. The attack, which occurred on September 9, resulted in the deaths of five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer.
