Tragic Accident in Wielowieś: Two Teenagers Dead, Three in Hospital

A devastating road accident in Wielowieś, Poland, on Thursday, September 18, claimed the lives of two teenagers and left three others in critical condition.

Details of the Accident

The accident occurred at around 4:00 PM on the intersection of regional roads 901 and 907 in Wielowieś, Gliwice county, Silesian Voivodeship. An 18 or 19-year-old driver, accompanied by three 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old, failed to obey a STOP sign and collided with a truck, which struck their Opel on the driver’s side.

Casualties and Injuries

The 18-year-old and 15-year-old passengers died at the scene. Three 17-year-old boys were hospitalized in Opole and Katowice, with severe injuries including skull trauma, loss of consciousness, and internal injuries. The truck driver and passenger were unharmed and sober.

Investigation and Aftermath

The investigation, led by the Gliwice Municipal Police under the supervision of the Gliwice District Prosecutor’s Office, aims to determine the circumstances and causes of the tragic event. The community, particularly the students and staff of the Brynek Forest School, are in mourning.

Community Response

The school expressed condolences to the families of the victims, stating that the community is “overwhelmed with grief.” Police officer Mateusz Piórkowski noted that the victims were “essentially children.”
