Wild Ride in Koszalin: Police Chase 15-Year-Olds on Electric Scooter

In Koszalin, Poland, police chased two 15-year-olds riding an electric scooter at speeds of up to 90 km/h, leading to multiple traffic offenses and a dramatic stop.

The Koszalin Municipal Police reported that officers from the Traffic Department were on a routine patrol when they spotted a 15-year-old riding an electric scooter with a female passenger. Despite police signals to stop, the teenager accelerated and attempted to flee, weaving through traffic and narrowly avoiding pedestrians.

The electric scooter, capable of reaching 90 km/h, far exceeded the legal speed limit of 20 km/h for such vehicles. The rider, who did not have the required permits, committed several offenses, including ignoring police signals, riding through a pedestrian crossing, transporting a passenger unlawfully, and operating a vehicle without a license.

The police emphasized that electric scooters are not toys, especially those capable of reaching speeds comparable to motorcycles. They urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and ensure their safety. The case will now be handled by the family court.

The incident highlighted significant safety concerns, as the lack of helmets, the transportation of a passenger, and the reckless behavior could have ended in tragedy. The police stressed the importance of responsible behavior when using electric scooters.
