The debate over KPO funds sparked a confrontation between rival political factions.
Will the KPO scandal be resolved?
On October 15, the KPO issue split PiS and Coalition politicians during Polsat News’ Sunday (August 10) episode of Bogdan Rymanowski’s program. “You’re using this issue for political gain,” Dariusz Wieczorek of the New Left explained. “The money has not yet been transferred. Entrepreneurs must spend their funds, and they will then receive a refund. If cases of irregularity arise, there are ways to correct it.”
Is the government still flying blind?
Fogiel, a PiS politician, criticized the translation, stating that “this gigantic scandal exposes the roots of the government’s pathology.” At that moment, a KO politician tried to interrupt him. “I calmly listened to that nonsense, God bless you, calm down,” Fogiel said. “Is the government still flying blind?” asked President’s Chief of Staff Zbigniew Bogucki, quoted by Wirtualna Polska.
European Commission speaks on KPO
The European Commission took the floor on the KPO issue: “Poland has an obligation to conduct an explanatory investigation,” said Commission spokesperson Maciej Berestecki in an RMF FM interview, commenting on the spending of funds earmarked for the HoReCa sector (hotels, gastronomy, catering) from the National Recovery Plan. According to a map released by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, the funds were to be allocated for purchases such as yachts, furniture, coffee machines, saunas, virtual shooting ranges, among others.
