Former US President Donald Trump delivers a scathing critique of the UN and the Biden administration during his address to the 80th UN General Assembly session in New York.
Trump’s Critical Remarks on the Biden Administration
Trump began his speech by criticizing the Biden administration, claiming it has led the United States into a “spiral of misfortune.” He contrasted this with his own administration, which he said made the US the most desirable country in the world.
He also claimed that his administration ended seven wars, while others said it couldn’t be done. Trump listed the conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Cambodia and Thailand, Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Serbia and Kosovo.
Criticism of the United Nations
Trump expressed frustration with the UN, stating that it did not offer him any help or support during his presidency. He mentioned that the only response he received from the UN was a broken escalator and a malfunctioning teleprompter.
He questioned the purpose of the UN, suggesting that it often produces empty words and fails to resolve conflicts. Trump emphasized that the organization should focus on preventing invasions rather than creating and financing them.
Comments on Migration and the Middle East Conflict
Trump criticized the UN for its handling of the migration crisis, saying it creates new problems rather than solving existing ones. He argued that the organization’s support for open borders leads to chaos and crime.
Regarding the Middle East conflict, Trump stated that recognizing a Palestinian state would be a “reward” for Hamas. He called for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to resolve the conflict.
