A recent survey in Poland revealed a significant divide in public opinion on whether Donald Trump can be considered a guarantor of security for the country.
Survey Results
A United Surveys poll for Wirtualna Polska found that 15.6% of respondents “strongly agree” and 23.5% “rather agree” that US President Donald Trump is a guarantor of security for Poland.
On the other hand, 23.4% of those surveyed “strongly disagree” and 27.4% “rather disagree” with the statement. Meanwhile, 10.1% of participants were undecided.
Diverging Opinions Among Supporters
Among supporters of the current ruling coalition, only 15% consider Trump a security guarantor, while 68% hold the opposite view.
In contrast, 54% of supporters of the Law and Justice party (PiS) and the Confederation party see Trump as a guarantor of security, with 40% holding a negative opinion.
Trump’s Statements on Poland’s Security
During a recent press conference, Trump stated that he would help Poland and the Baltic states defend themselves against Russia if Moscow escalated the situation.
On September 3, Trump met with Polish President Andrzej Duda at the White House, where he emphasized that the US would help Poland defend itself and that there were no plans to withdraw troops from the country.
NATO Aid Survey
A separate SW Research poll for Rp.pl found that 57% of respondents believe that NATO allies would provide assistance to Poland in the event of an attack.
Conversely, 25.8% of those surveyed expressed doubts about NATO aid, while 17.1% were undecided.
