Abandoned Luggage in the Metro. Three Stations Closed

At about 11 a.m. on October 3, unsecured luggage was found at Młociny metro station, forcing closures of Młociny, Wawrzyszew and Stare Bielany and shortening M1 services to the Kabaty–Słodowiec segment.

Discovery and Response

An unsecured bag was spotted near the 11:00 a.m. lines of the Młociny metro station on October 3. Security teams sealed the area and began a threat assessment following standard safety procedures. Passengers were evacuated from platforms and the vestibule.

Service Disruption

As a result, Młociny, Wawrzyszew, and Stare Bielany have been shut down. Trains on line M1 now run only the shortened Kabaty–Słodowiec segment and turn back at Słodowiec for direction changes. Other sections of the line remain unchanged.

Alternative Transport

Replacement bus services are being deployed to cover the cut‑off stations. Routes and stops are being established to provide access to Młociny, Wawrzyszew, and Stare Bielany until normal metro operations resume.

Safety Measures

On‑site authorities are assessing and neutralising the threat. Until the investigation concludes, restrictions will stay in place and the northern segment of line M1 will remain closed. Full service will only resume after the authorities issue a clearance.

Official Statement

The Warsaw Transport Authority said: “Due to the Młociny station closure, there are disruptions to M1 metro services. Line M1 runs on the Kabaty–Słodowiec section. Closed stations: Młociny, Wawrzyszew, Stare Bielany. Replacement transport is operating along the route: Metro Młociny 18 – Kasprowicza – Sacharowa – Marymoncka – Żeromskiego – Metro Słodowiec 04. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
