Alan Bartczak Still Sought as European Arrest Warrant Issued

Alan Bartczak, wanted in connection with a 2022 torture and rape case in Konin, remains at large after a European Arrest Warrant was issued.

August 2022 Incident in Konin

The incident occurred in August of last year in Konin. A 26-year-old man received a call from his ex-girlfriend, who had previously obtained a restraining order against him, and was asked to come to her apartment.

Torture and Arrests

According to journalists from “Gazeta Wyborcza”, at the scene, the 26-year-old encountered two men who attacked and tortured him. Rape likely occurred using objects found in the apartment. Police detained one suspect (a 24-year-old man) and the victim’s ex-girlfriend. Both face charges including sexual offenses, with potential sentences of up to 25 years in prison.

Alan Bartczak’s Involvement

The second man, Alan Bartczak, is sought in connection with the abduction. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Konin issued a wanted notice for the 30-year-old Konin resident in August. Unofficial reports from “Gazeta Wyborczej” suggested Bartczak was the victim’s current partner. He is suspected of crimes including “deprivation of freedom with particular torment and other crimes against life, health, and property.”

European Arrest Warrant Issued

The 30-year-old Bartczak remains at large. On Tuesday, the prosecutor’s office announced that the District Court in Konin issued a European Arrest Warrant for Bartczak in February. Evidence indicates he left Poland for another EU member country shortly after the crime was discovered.

Public Appeal

The Konin police have appealed to the public for information on Bartczak’s whereabouts, asking anyone with information to contact the City Police Command at ul. Przemysłowa 2, tel. 47 77 52 143. Hiding or assisting the wanted person carries a potential 5-year prison sentence.
