Kidnapping Confirmed
American journalist Shelly Kittleson has been kidnapped in Baghdad, and may be held hostage by Kataib Hezbollah, a pro-Iranian group operating in Iraq.
CNN analyst and Atlantic Council’s Alex Plitsas confirmed the abduction on Tuesday.
Analyst’s Statement
“I can confirm that my friend Shelly Kittleson has been kidnapped and may have been taken hostage in Baghdad by Kataib Hezbollah. Her whereabouts and condition are unknown. I am her designated contact person in the USA,” Plitsas wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
