Andruszkiewicz Criticizes Tusk’s Interview: Questions US Loyalty

Andruszkiewicz criticized Prime Minister Tusk’s remarks to the Financial Times regarding US commitment to NATO, questioning the motives behind them.

Andruszkiewicz’s Criticism of Tusk’s Statements

Andruszkiewicz commented on Prime Minister Tusk’s interview with the Financial Times on TV Republika, stating that Tusk was “doing a very undermining job” regarding Poland’s security, both domestically and internationally.

He questioned who benefits from pushing the US out of Europe, suggesting a potential German-Russian arrangement, referencing past cooperation including during Tusk’s tenure.

US Support for Poland

Andruszkiewicz emphasized that the issue isn’t about liking or disliking the US, but recognizing its unique capacity to support Poland in the event of Russian aggression.

He acknowledged the limitations of France and Germany, noting the Bundeswehr’s current state, and stated they lack the same potential for support.

Tusk’s Concerns About NATO Readiness

According to Prime Minister Tusk, the EU should strengthen its mutual defense clause, outlined in Article 42, paragraph 7 of the Treaty on European Union.

Tusk questioned whether NATO is still capable of reacting politically and logistically, particularly against Russia, in an interview with the FT.

US-Poland Relations and Trump’s Stance

Tusk clarified his concerns do not relate to Poland’s relationship with the US, stating Washington views Poland as its closest ally in Europe, but questioned the practical implications if a crisis were to occur.

Growing European Uncertainty

The Financial Times noted Tusk’s statements reflect growing European uncertainty regarding US commitment to the NATO alliance.

President Trump has repeatedly questioned US involvement in NATO, calling it a “paper tiger” and criticizing European reliance on American protection.

Trump’s Threats of Withdrawal

Trump has also complained about Europe’s lack of support during the US war with Iran and even suggested withdrawing from NATO, though such a move would be complex.
