Another Collision at the Fatal Grochowska Intersection

A Toyota and Volkswagen collided at the Grochowska-Zamieniecka intersection on February 1, causing traffic delays but no injuries.

Collision Details

On Sunday, February 1, around 4:00 PM, a collision occurred between two passenger cars – a Toyota and a Volkswagen – at the intersection of Grochowska and Zamieniecka streets on Praga-Południe. No one was injured, but part of the intersection was blocked for some time, causing local traffic difficulties.

Traffic Hotspot

The incident took place near Szembek Square – an area with heavy traffic where even brief blockages of lanes or parts of the intersection quickly lead to traffic slowdowns.

Previous Fatal Accident

It is worth recalling that on Monday, January 19, 2026, after 3:00 PM, at the same intersection of Grochowska and Zamieniecka streets, there was an accident where, after a collision of two cars, one of them drove onto a pedestrian crossing. A 6-year-old boy was killed, and three women were injured.

Police Investigation

According to preliminary police findings, the Ford driver, while turning left from Zamieniecka Street, failed to yield to the Toyota traveling on Grochowska Street. After the collision, the Toyota was knocked off its course, rolled over, and struck people waiting at the pedestrian crossing. The drivers were sober, and at the scene, activities were conducted under the supervision of a prosecutor with the participation of an expert in road traffic.

Legal Consequences

In the following days, it was reported that both drivers were charged with causing an accident with fatal consequences. After questioning, no temporary measures were applied against them.

Safety Improvements

After the tragedy, the city announced actions to improve safety in the area. It was informed, among other things, about plans to submit an application for the installation of a stationary speed camera near the intersection of Grochowska and Zamieniecka, as well as a planned meeting with the General Inspectorate of Road Transport.
