Paweł Zalewski announced his exit from Poland 2050 on February 17, prioritizing his role at the Ministry of National Defense over unfulfilled party promises.
Zalewski’s Departure Announcement
Paweł Zalewski announced on Tuesday, February 17, that he is leaving Poland 2050. In a social media post, he stated, “I am loyal to the promises of 2023. Unfortunately, after Poland 2050 abandoned the values we advocated for in the Third Path, I cannot fulfill them.” He emphasized focusing on his service at the Ministry of National Defense in the coalition government formed on October 15, “believing that security and defense are most important today.” Zalewski also confirmed he will remain an unaffiliated MP.
In a subsequent post, the Deputy Defense Minister thanked Szymon Hołownia for the invitation and good collaboration, as well as Paulina Hennig-Kłoska and her team for their efforts to regain voter trust. He added he would continue working for a lawful and democratic Poland with his colleagues from the October 15 coalition.
Wave of Resignations from Poland 2050
On Monday, Anna Radwan, former Deputy Foreign Minister (2024-2025), resigned from Poland 2050. In her social media statement, she wrote, “I do not find myself in a place where substantive political debate was replaced by undemocratic and non-transparent decisions.” She also thanked colleagues for years of good collaboration. The same day, MEP Michał Kobosko also announced his departure.
Kobosko stated in a declaration about “highly suspicious events in the election process for party chairwoman, scandalous and illegal attempts to derail the party’s electoral process, unacceptable blackmail during the election, and threats to pull several MPs out of the Club by the former party Chairman.” Earlier resignations included MPs Żaneta Cwalina-Śliwowska and Barbara Okuła.
