Another Metro Breakdown in Warsaw; Disruptions on Line 2 After Szwedzka Station Incident

Warsaw Metro Line 2 faces disruptions Thursday after Szwedzka station closed due to technical failure.

Incident Details

On Thursday, February 12, disruptions occurred on Warsaw Metro Line 2 (M2) due to an incident at Szwedzka station in Praga-Północ. The station was temporarily taken out of service.

The incident caused trains to operate in two separate loops, breaking continuous travel along the entire line. Szwedzka station, located on the eastern section of M2 near Strzelecka Street, is affected.

Service Impact

The disruptions impact the entire M2 line, which connects Bemowo with Bródno and serves as a critical east-west transit route, offering a transfer to M1 at Świętokrzyska station. The two-loop setup means trains turn back on both sides of the closed section, and passengers must anticipate no direct travel through the restricted area.

Currently, no cause or specific details regarding the incident have been released. There is also no information on when full service will be restored and Szwedzka station will reopen.

Official Advisory

Warsaw Transport Authority (WTP) has announced that due to technical reasons, Line M2 is operating on shortened routes: Bemowo <> Dw. Wileński and Bródno <> Targówek Mieszkaniowy. Szwedzka station is closed to traffic.

In response to the M2 disruptions, bus line 512 is serving the “Szwedzka” stop in both directions.
