Apartment Fire on Świętokrzyska in Central Warsaw; Elderly Man Injured

Emergency services responded to a midnight apartment fire on Świętokrzyska Street in Warsaw, where an elderly man suffered burns.

Emergency Response

Seven minutes after midnight, emergency services were called to an apartment fire on Świętokrzyska Street in Śródmieście. Black smoke was emanating from the apartment on the 4th floor, and the kitchen was engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a developed fire in the kitchen section of the apartment.

Injured Resident

The resident, an elderly man, had evacuated from the apartment to the staircase before emergency services arrived. The man received medical assistance at the scene and was then transported to the hospital with burns to his upper respiratory tract.

Fire Damage

Firefighters quickly located the source of the fire, and after extinguishing it, they continued damping down and removing burnt items. The entire kitchen with its equipment was burned, while the rest of the apartment was smoke-damaged.

Multi-Agency Operation

Five fire brigades and the City Operational Group participated in the operation. Gas and emergency services, a medical rescue team, and several police crews were also called to the scene.

Traffic Disruptions

There were traffic disruptions during the operation – one lane in the direction of Wola was blocked.
