Disappearance of Iwona Wieczorek. Head of Prosecutor’s Archive X on Zatoka Sztuki Case

Eryk Stasielak, head of the Malopolski Division of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption in Krakow, spoke with “Fakt” about the investigation into Iwona Wieczorek’s disappearance. The head of prosecutor’s Archive X was asked if recent actions are related to the Zatoka Sztuki case. At the end of January, a warrant was issued for its former head.

“The Zatoka Sztuki version is one of many that we are considering, but I would not link the issuance of the warrant with our proceedings. It concerns a different case. There is no connection between our actions and this warrant. However, I emphasize that the Zatoka Sztuki thread is still considered, among many others. We don’t think in tunnels and don’t focus on one version, we consider all and this version is also taken into account, as much as possible. However, I will not say whether it is less or more probable, because I cannot say that,” stated Stasielak.

Zatoka Sztuki Case. Krystian W. May Have Known Iwona Wieczorek

Former Zatoka Sztuki head Marcin Turczynski was sentenced to six years in prison for sexual offenses, including sexual intercourse with minors in exchange for financial benefits. Speculations emerged that recent actions taken in connection with Iwona Wieczorek’s disappearance and Zatoka Sztuki are linked. It was suggested that Krystian W. nickname Krystek might have provided authorities with information about Iwona Wieczorek.

The Krystian W., sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexual offenses, was known as a “teen hunter.” Although in 2015 Krystian W. during interrogations claimed he did not know Iwona Wieczorek, some believe it was otherwise. Investigative journalist Mikolaj Podolski reported that “Krystek” before the woman’s disappearance was partying with her in one of the clubs in Sopot.

New Witnesses in Iwona Wieczorek Case

The head of prosecutor’s Archive X told “Fakt” that he cannot currently comment on reports about “Krystek” and his alleged statements. He did however mention that new witnesses have appeared in the Iwona Wieczorek case.

“We are now interrogating witnesses in the Iwona Wieczorek case, also new witnesses who have recently appeared. Our latest appeal to come forward in this case has borne fruit. For now we are conducting actions and focusing on doing them as best we can, we are building this investigation, but what the result will be, I will not say at this moment. We are doing everything to solve this case, but it takes a bit of time and patience,” emphasized Eryk Stasielak.

Unofficial Findings Regarding Prosecutor’s Actions

“Fakt” unofficially established that investigators handling the Iwona Wieczorek case are not currently conducting any intensive actions with “Krystek.” One of the examined threads is said to concern a cleaning company that operated in the area where the woman was last seen on the day of her disappearance.
