A 57‑year‑old suspect was arrested and temporarily detained in Warsaw after police cracked a scheme in which he posed as a police officer to defraud a victim of 24,000 zł.

Fraud Details

The suspect allegedly told a victim that he was a courier collecting money for disabled wheelchairs from the Netherlands, and that the victim should transfer the money to him and the police. The victim complied, losing 24,000 zł. The operation was conducted using the “police” fraud method.

Rapid Police Response

Criminal investigators, after learning of the “police” scam, used their extensive operational knowledge to analyze evidence and quickly locate the suspect. He was arrested at his home.

Court Order

Following the indictment by the Warsaw‑Praga South District Prosecutor’s Office, the court temporarily detained the 57‑year‑old on request of the prosecutor.

Police remind the public that officers never ask for money. Victims are urged to verify callers’ authenticity by checking 112, avoid hasty decisions, and report incidents to authorities.
