Arsonists Targeting Ochota Waste‑Shelters Now in Custody

Two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested in Warsaw’s Ochota district after setting fire to several waste‑bin sheds last week.

Police raid on Siewierska Street

Patrol units from the Warsaw III District Police Headquarters went to Siewierska Street, where a suspect was believed to be in the vicinity of the recent arson sites.

Witness identification leads to first arrest

A resident spotted the 19‑year‑old and helped officers locate him. Upon questioning he admitted to setting the fires.

Second suspect detained at home

The 21‑year‑old was taken into custody at his residence; he also confessed and claimed he received food and money from the younger man in exchange for assistance.

Charges and preliminary proceedings

Both men face charges under Article 288 §1 of the Criminal Code, with reference to Article 57a §1. They were processed and held in the police detainment unit.

Investigation and court measures

Investigators from the Office for the Fight Against Property‑Related Crime in Ochota documented all evidence. The court imposed police supervision as a preventative measure.

Supervision by the Ochota District Public Prosecutor

The prosecution office in Ochota oversees the case and will pursue further action.
