Attack on Embassy in The Hague

Arrests took place on January 13 after attacks on the Iranian embassy building in The Hague, located in the Scheveningen district on Duinweg street. Police were called after a group of people threw stones at the embassy and tried to climb the complex fence.

The Dutch police announced in a statement. It was added that four people were arrested and taken to the police station. Police also decided to temporarily strengthen the protection of the embassy and its surroundings. No one was injured in the incident.

Support for Iranian Protesters

In recent days, a similar incident occurred in London. One of the men who participated in a rally supporting protesters in Tehran entered the embassy building and removed the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He replaced it with the flag used in Iran before the Islamic revolution – with a lion and a sun.

In many European cities, including Berlin, Warsaw, Barcelona and Paris, near Iranian embassies, rallies have been organized for several days, where hundreds of people are supporting protesters in Iran.

Victims of Iranian Protests

More than 2,500 people died as a result of protests in Iran, including 2,403 activists and 147 government officials – reported the US-based non-governmental organization HRANA. US President Donald Trump called on opponents of the government in Iran to continue protesting because “help is on the way”.

Iranian authorities accuse Americans and Israelis of fueling the protests. The US had previously announced intervention in Iran if people continued to die on the streets. Protests against the power of the ayatollahs began in Iran at the end of last December. According to HRANA statistics, they have taken place in 187 cities in the country so far.
