Attack on Khamenei Family Details Revealed by The Telegraph

The Telegraph reported on a missile attack targeting the family of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, revealing details and a leaked recording of the event.

New Details of Attack on Khamenei Family, Recording Revealed

On March 16th, The Telegraph reported that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s son, Modjtaba Khamenei, survived a U.S.-Israeli missile attack by briefly stepping into the garden of his residence before impact.

The leaked recording, obtained by the British newspaper, indicates that Modjtaba Khamenei was a target in the same attack that killed his father, Ali Khamenei, and other senior Islamic Republic officials on February 28th.

Close Call for Modjtaba Khamenei

According to the report, Modjtaba Khamenei exited his home to “take care of something” moments before Israeli ballistic missiles, specifically Blue Sparrow missiles, struck at 9:32 AM local time on February 28th.

Details Shared with Iranian Officials

Mazaher Hosseini, head of protocol in Ali Khamenei’s office, presented the attack details during a meeting with high-ranking clerics and commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The recording of his statement was provided to the media and independently verified by The Telegraph.

Injuries and Fatalities

Hosseini stated that Khamenei sustained only a leg injury in the attack, while his wife and son were killed on-site. The meeting where this information was shared took place on March 12th in Tehran’s Qolhak district.

Hosseini believes the attacks were coordinated and targeted multiple locations within the complex, indicating an attempt to eliminate the entire Khamenei family. He stated that three missiles struck the Supreme Leader’s residence.

Uncertainty Surrounding Khamenei’s Condition

Modjtaba Khamenei has not been seen publicly since the start of the war or following his selection as Iran’s Supreme Leader, communicating only through a written statement read on state television. This has fueled speculation, including from Donald Trump, that his injuries may be more severe than officially acknowledged.

An Iranian official told The Telegraph that military commanders are unaware of the new leader’s condition, stating, “None of the commanders know what state he is in.”

U.S. Intelligence on Ali Khamenei’s Succession Plans

U.S. intelligence services determined that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei opposed a succession plan that would have ensured his son, Modjtaba, would inherit the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader. This information was reportedly shared with President Donald Trump and his senior advisors, including Vice President J.D. Vance.

Ali Khamenei reportedly believed that 56-year-old Modjtaba was “not very bright” and unsuitable for leadership, and also received reports of “problems in his personal life.” Trump confirmed having been informed of these concerns, describing Modjtaba as “not someone his father would want” and a “lightweight.”

Trump on Iran and Potential Negotiations

Donald Trump stated on Monday that Iranians are in contact with the U.S. side and seeking a deal, but he believes they are not yet ready. He acknowledged ongoing negotiations, stating, “They want to make a deal. They’re talking to our people…We’re talking. Somebody asked, why are you even talking to them? I talk to everybody because sometimes good things come out of it. But I don’t know if they’re ready yet. They’re getting hit hard.”

Trump also admitted he doesn’t know who is currently in charge of Iran, stating, “We don’t even know their leaders. All their leaders are dead. We don’t know who we’re dealing with…There are people who want to negotiate. We have no idea who they are.”

Trump’s Assessment of Modjtaba Khamenei’s Health

Referring to the new Iranian leader, Trump stated that many people say he is “very badly disfigured, that he lost a leg.” He noted reports of severe injuries and even claims of his death, adding, “Nobody is saying he’s 100 percent healthy…We haven’t seen him at all. It could be for many reasons. We don’t know if he’s alive or not. Nobody has seen him, it’s unprecedented.”
