At night on the Rondzie Ofiar Zbrodni Katyńskiej interchange, an Audi driver crashed the vehicle into pedestrian traffic lights, fell onto a slope beside the S8 highway, and fled on foot.
Nighttime Crash on the Rondzie Interchange
During the night, an Audi driver struck a pedestrian traffic light at the Rondzie Ofiar Zbrodni Katyńskiej roundabout, breaking barriers before falling several metres onto a slope near the S8 highway. No injuries were reported.
Vehicle Slides onto S8 Slope
The vehicle hit a traffic light, breached the security barriers, fell onto a slope adjacent to the S8, striking a tree and a gate element. Witnesses say the driver left the car and walked away.
Firefighters Extract Car from Slope
Firefighters from JRG 10’s Technical Rescue group, along with other units, used a rotator and chains to retrieve the car onto the road. Police secured the area during the operation.
Roadworks and Traffic Disruptions
Temporary restrictions blocked two lanes heading towards Marek and the exit onto Broniewskiego street until the vehicle was removed. Traffic was then restored.
Police Seek Driver’s Identity
Police are examining the vehicle and gathering witness statements while searching for the woman who fled the scene. An earlier incident on Wolskiej and Marymonckiej streets is under investigation.
