Poland’s data protection office fines Karol Nawrocki’s election committee 35,582 zł for violating RODO by disclosing personal data.
PUODO Reacts: Fine Imposed on Nawrocki’s Committee
President’s Office and Nawrocki’s campaign team declined to comment on the decision by Personal Data Protection Office (PUODO) President Mirosław Wróblewski, who imposed an administrative fine of 35,582 zł. The ruling, published Monday morning, followed an appeal by Zero.pl. Appeals can be made to an administrative court.
Personal Data Disclosure at Press Conference
The fine stems from a press conference held by Nawrocki’s PiS-aligned committee, where MP Przemysław Czarnek presented documents—including a preliminary sales agreement, power of attorney, and will—regarding Nawrocki’s acquisition of a Gdansk apartment. The documents contained personal data such as names, PESEL numbers, ID details, addresses, family status, and asset information of the apartment owner and Nawrocki’s spouse.
Committee’s Defense and UODO’s Response
Czarnek claimed he aimed to present factual context amid election smears, received instructions from the committee, and denied intent to disclose personal data. The committee echoed this but disputed the claim of data exposure for non-public figures. UODO countered that while names were public, full data wasn’t, and the owner hadn’t consented to disclosure, losing control over their information.
Previous Warnings and Recidivism
This marks the second penalty; in August 2025, PUODO issued warnings to both Nawrocki and rival Rafał Trzaskowski for similar data breaches. Trzaskowski’s data was quickly removed, but Nawrocki’s remained public longer. The committee was also previously instructed to delete a YouTube video disclosing the owner’s private details, making the current fine a repeat offense.

Requests for comment to Nawrocki’s former team members—including those at the May 2025 press conference—and to presidential spokesperson Rafał Leśkiewicz went unanswered by publication time.
