In a scathing post, former National Freedom Institute beneficiary Bąkiewicz alleges that ex‑Marsz Niepodległości board member Krzysztof Bosak masterminded a multi‑year scheme to siphon public funds.
Allegations of a Multi‑Year Scam
Bąkiewicz, who must return nearly 400,000 zloty, claims that former board member Krzysztof Bosak helped orchestrate a long‑term siphoning of public funds from the Marsz Niepodległości association. He accuses Bosak of being “immersed in multi‑year money extraction” and derides Bosak’s associates.
Audit Findings and Lack of Accounting
A state audit of Rota Marsz Niepodległości uncovered multiple irregularities. Bąkiewicz notes that from 2012 to 2016 no bank account was opened or settled, no financial records were kept, and the first statement for that period was filed only in 2020. He also points to evidence that Bosak still maintains ties with Roman Giertych, alleging that Bosak uses this connection to advance “liberal‑left media” narratives that “destroy competition.”
Bosak’s Response
Bosak denounced Bąkiewicz’s post as “disinformation and defamation.” He said he never handled money at the association and that, before mid‑2017, the organisation’s finances were managed solely through cost‑control and debt management. He stressed that members paid from their own pockets and that no salaries were drawn over the years. Official records place Bosak on the board from 2011 to 2017 and on the audit commission from 2017 to 2020.
Mockery of Bosak’s CV
Bąkiewicz seized on Bosak’s résumé, highlighting his tenure as Chair of the audit commission and board member. He accuses Bosak of benefiting from public money after 2017 and starting proper bookkeeping only then. He also questioned how Bosak could have contributed from his own funds “if he wasn’t working,” noting Bosak’s roles in the Republican Foundation, National Ruch party, and as a windsurfing instructor.
Broader Context and Political Fallout
Bąkiewicz warns that he has never reported these matters to “the Gestapo” despite public scandals, claiming that his criticisms aim to expose persistent lies. The allegations touch on public finance misuse and political accountability, reflecting ongoing tensions between national parties and media narratives.
