Bartosz G. to Be Transported from Greece to Poland After Seven-Month European Arrest Warrant Process

On Tuesday, 23 December 2025, the Polish Police Headquarters announced that Bartosz G., accused of murdering 16‑year‑old Maja from Mława, will be flown from Greece to Poland.

Official Police Statement

On 23 December 2025 the Polish Police Headquarters issued an official note informing that Bartosz G. would be transported from Greece to Poland. The statement cited media interest and confirmed the planned movement.

Timeline of Transfer

The decision to hand over the suspect passed through a lengthy European Arrest Warrant (ENA) procedure. On 19 December the Płock District Prosecutor’s Office declared the decision final and legally binding. Four days later, the Police Headquarters confirmed the transport schedule.

Investigation Background

Bartosz G. was arrested in Greece in early May 2025 while staying in a hotel in Katerini during a student exchange trip. The ENA case proceeded for months, with the suspect’s defence filing appeals citing safety concerns upon return to Poland.

Murder Case Details

Maja, a 16‑year‑old girl, disappeared after meeting her older friend Bartosz on the evening of 23 April 2025. On 1 May her body was found in bushes near a site linked to the suspect. Preliminary forensic work indicated extensive head injuries as the cause of death.

Greek Legal Proceedings

In late May 2025 the suspect attempted suicide after the Greek court decided his future case. He was hospitalized in Saloniki’s Papageorgiou hospital, intubated, and later transferred out of ICU under police supervision on 6 June 2025.

Current Status

With the ENA complete and the transfer approved, the case will now proceed within Poland. The Płock prosecutor will conduct hearings, consider preventive measures, and continue the investigation.
