Following a false alarm that led emergency services to forcibly enter the Gdańsk apartment of Karol Nawrocki’s mother, the BBN Chief stated that the President expects a swift explanation and systemic improvements.
Presidential expectations for incident investigation
Following the security intervention at the apartment of Karol Nawrocki’s mother, BBN Chief Bartosz Grodecki clarified the President’s position. He stated that the President demands a full and rapid explanation of the event, a sentiment officially communicated during a meeting at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA).
Grodecki described the incident as a “compromise and outrageous behavior,” stressing that it was not an isolated event. He emphasized that the state must implement mechanisms to prevent such occurrences in the future, as the recent series of incidents targeting political figures and the head of state indicates a “colossal problem” with the national reporting and response system.
Details of the forced entry and service response
The incident occurred on Saturday evening when emergency services forcibly entered the Gdańsk apartment after receiving two false reports: one concerning a potential fire and the other a sudden cardiac arrest. The State Fire Service confirmed that after breaching the door, they found the apartment empty with no fire or injured persons present.
Grodecki noted that after the initial false report was cleared, authorities should have questioned the validity of the subsequent call. He suggested that the weakest link in the current protocol is the assessment of information coming through the 112 emergency number, noting that police were aware of the resident’s identity.
Urgent meetings at the government level
The situation prompted immediate action within the government. On Saturday night, MSWiA Minister Marcin Kierwiński led an urgent consultation with security services. Furthermore, Prime Minister Donald Tusk convened a briefing on Sunday morning involving ministers and representatives of the relevant agencies.
