Individuals over 50 facing unemployment in Poland are entitled to a specific range of government-backed support, including extended benefits, employer subsidies, and various labor market re-entry programs.

General Unemployment Support

Job seekers over the age of 50 may access standard services provided by district labor offices. These include settlement bonuses, internships, and activation packages that combine multiple forms of professional assistance.

Support measures also cover the financing of vocational training and continuing education vouchers, which pay for training, postgraduate studies, and the formal certification of skills and qualifications.

Specific Provisions for the Over-50 Demographic

Age-specific benefits include an extended 365-day unemployment allowance for those with at least 20 years of eligible service. Additionally, these individuals receive priority for participation in various labor market aid programs.

Employers hiring job seekers aged 50 to 60 can receive monthly subsidies from the Labor Fund for up to 12 months, capped at 50 percent of the minimum wage. Furthermore, companies are exempt from Labor Fund and Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund contributions for one year when hiring individuals over 50 who were previously registered as unemployed.

Additional Employer Incentives and Future Outlook

Employers hiring women over 55 or men over 60 are fully exempt from contributions to these specific funds. Subsidies are also available for hiring individuals who have reached retirement age but are registered as job seekers.

Currently, the government has no immediate plans to introduce new incentives such as tax relief or public procurement preferences. Future policy adjustments remain subject to ongoing market analysis and labor force trends.
