Former Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak criticized his successor during a Tuesday press conference, blaming Prime Minister Donald Tusk and previous Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz for recent drone incursions into Polish airspace.
Drone Incursions Concerns
Blaszczak expressed worries that a drone could cause a disaster if it were to strike residential buildings. Multiple unarmed drones have entered Polish airspace recently, including incidents in Osin and near Terespol.
Need for Domestic Drone Production
Blaszczak believes Poland must prioritize drone technology for both military applications and national security. He called for EU funds from the SAFE fund to be allocated to building a domestic drone factory, focusing on affordable and simple drones similar to those used by Ukraine.
Government Criticism
Blaszczak questioned the government’s management of the Sky Control system, emphasizing the need to protect eastern borders. Following his comments, Law and Justice party colleague Bartosz Kownacki also expressed concern over the Ministry of National Defense’s communication strategies.
