Former Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczyk criticizes his successor’s handling of a recent drone incursion into Polish airspace, demanding that funds from the EU’s SAFE fund be allocated to build a domestic drone factory.
Concerns Over Drone Incursions
Blaszczyk expressed concerns about the safety of citizens and the prestige of the nation, stating that recent drone incursions into Polish airspace were a result of both the Tusk government’s inaction and the lack of effective defense measures.
Proposal for Drone Factory
The former minister called for funds from the EU’s SAFE fund to be used for the construction of a drone factory. Blaszczyk proposed developing low-cost and simple drones similar to those used by Ukraine for defense purposes.
Security Measures
Blaszczyk emphasized the importance of having a defense system capable of countering potential threats from drone swarms, highlighting the potential use of drone swarms as a deterrent.
