BMW Driver Placed Under Police Supervision After Warsaw-Area Crash

A BMW driver involved in a Friday collision with a bus in Marki, near Warsaw, has been placed under police supervision following questioning.

Crash Details Released

The incident occurred on Friday, April 3rd, at the intersection of Piłsudskiego Avenue and Bandurskiego Street in Marki, near Warsaw. A BMW collided forcefully with the side of a city bus, causing it to overturn.

Eight people were injured, according to young assistant inspector Jakub Filipiak of the Warsaw police. The BMW driver allegedly ran a red light.

Footage Shows Red Light Violation

Video footage shared on Facebook by Miejski Reporter shows the traffic signal changing from yellow to red as the BMW approached the intersection. Seconds later, a bus entered the intersection and was struck by the speeding car.

The collision caused the bus to tip over, and one passenger was ejected through a broken window. Reporter Artur Węgrzynowicz of tvnwarszawa.pl reported that the ejected passenger was among the most seriously injured but was conscious when emergency services arrived.

Driver Detained and Released Under Supervision

According to Kamil Sobótka of the Warsaw Police Headquarters, the BMW driver was detained on Saturday and questioned before being released under police supervision. Both drivers tested negative for alcohol.

Hospitalizations Remain

Sobótka stated that five of the eight injured individuals remain hospitalized, including one in critical condition. Three people have been discharged from the hospital.
