Jarosław Kaczyński has announced his decision on PiS’s prime minister candidate, but has not revealed the name to the public yet.
Kaczyński’s Announcement
Jarosław Kaczyński announced that he will reveal the name of PiS’s candidate for prime minister in March. “I do not hide that I have already made the choice in my own mind, or as it is also said, in my heart,” he said in an interview with Radio Maryja. He added that he wants to present the candidate to a large party gathering first, and then follow the party’s statutes.
Potential Candidates
Among the potential candidates are PiS MEP Tobiasz Bocheński, Head of the Presidential Chancellery Zbigniew Bogucki, and PiS MP and former Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek. Former Deputy Minister of Sport Anna Krupka has also been mentioned.
Bocheński’s Response
When asked about the choice for prime minister, Tobiasz Bocheński said: “Poles need hope, they need a vision, and they need to see a program for Poland that is different from what is coming out of the mouths of politicians who govern today.” He added that PiS “will meet these expectations and present a candidate who will then conduct a very intensive electoral campaign.”
Pressed if he would be that candidate, he replied: “Do not believe what the newspapers write. The Chairman Kaczyński said that he has made a decision and this decision has not been revealed to anyone yet.”
