Forced entry into Chełmno apartment reveals bodies of 31-year-old woman and her three children after carbon monoxide poisoning.
Tragic Incident in Chełmno
On Thursday, January 15th, in Chełmno (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship), a tragic carbon monoxide poisoning occurred in an apartment at Stare Planty Street. Four people died – a 31-year-old woman and her three children.
Discovery of Bodies
The incident was reported in the afternoon. Firefighters were called to forcibly open the apartment, as there had been no contact with the woman and children for several days. Concerned relatives informed the appropriate services. Upon entering, firefighters discovered the bodies of four people.
Carbon Monoxide Levels
According to Kasper Korczak, Captain and Engineer from the Chełmno District State Fire Service Headquarters, measuring devices showed over 900 ppm of carbon monoxide in the apartment. The victims were identified as the mother and children aged approximately 3, 11, and 12 years old.
Police Investigation
Police are conducting an investigation at the scene under the supervision of a prosecutor. Initial indications suggested that a gas water heater might have been the source of danger, but the exact cause and circumstances will be clarified during an investigation with experts.
Timeline Uncertain
According to police information, services were alerted by a family member who could not contact the woman since the beginning of the week. Investigators emphasized that at this stage, it is not certain when exactly the tragedy occurred.
