A charred body was discovered in the ruins of a derelict building following a fire on Kolejowa Street in Komorowo, Pruszków County, on Tuesday morning.
Fire Breaks Out at Abandoned Building
Around 8:50 AM, a fire erupted at an abandoned building on Kolejowa Street in Komorowo, Pruszków County. Upon the arrival of the first fire crews, the fire was already well-developed, engulfing the attic and first floor of the abandoned, brick building, approximately 10 by 10 meters in size.
The collapse of a portion of the ceiling during firefighting operations further complicated rescue efforts.
Concerns for Missing Resident
Residents had reported that an elderly woman had not evacuated the building. There was immediate concern that a person might be inside the burning structure. Firefighters cautiously searched and cleared debris, considering the unstable condition of the building.
Body Discovered in Rubble
During the search of the rubble, a charred body was found. Police are now at the scene under the supervision of the prosecutor. The circumstances of the tragedy and the identity of the victim will be investigated.
Fire Contained, Investigation Ongoing
The fire has been extinguished, but emergency services continue to work at the scene. More than seven fire crews and the police were involved in the operation.
