Authorities in Kraków discovered a young person’s body in the Wolski Forest on Saturday while conducting a large-scale search operation for a 12-year-old girl who went missing on Thursday.
Discovery in the Forest
During the search operation, municipal guards discovered the body of a young female in the Wolski Forest. Sub-inspector Katarzyna Cisło, spokesperson for the Kraków Police, confirmed that while formal identification is ongoing, the victim’s appearance and clothing match the description of the missing 12-year-old provided to the public.
Disappearance of the 12-year-old
The 12-year-old went missing on Thursday after meeting with friends. Security camera footage indicated she disembarked from a bus near the zoological garden located within the Wolski Forest area.
Scale of the Search Operation
The search involved hundreds of police officers, firefighters, and Territorial Defense Force soldiers, alongside volunteers. Authorities deployed drones, quad bikes, and specialized tracker dogs while inspecting vacant buildings and private surveillance footage across Kraków and the surrounding district.
Statistics on Missing Persons
Over 13,000 missing person reports were filed in Poland last year, with most individuals located within the first few days. Police emphasize that time is the most critical factor, urging the public to report disappearances immediately without waiting for any mandatory waiting period.
