On Friday, 28 November, a railway employee performing routine checks on the tracks north of Drzeńska in the Lubusz region found a package resembling an explosive. The track authorities immediately halted all train movements to secure the area.

Police confirm intentional sabotage

Senior Commissioner Maciej Kimet told reporters that all evidence points to the act being deliberate. He added that contractors are inspecting the surrounding area for further suspicious items, which is why the entire train service has been suspended.

Search for additional threats ongoing

Contraterrorists and a pyrotechnics unit are on site securing evidence and investigators are working to identify who placed the package recently.

Suspects in charge of sabotage on wanted list

Earlier on Friday, the police released photographs of two suspects, Jewhenija Iwanowa and Ołeksandra Kononowa, linked to railway sabotage. They are listed as wanted for espionage and terrorist crimes, and a European Arrest Warrant is being prepared. Those with information about their whereabouts are urged to call 112 or local police stations.
