On Saturday, May 2nd, a serious accident involving a child occurred on private property in the Szydłowo municipality (Mława county). A seven-year-old boy suffered severe burns while a grill was being lit.

Preliminary police investigations indicate the boy’s father was lighting the grill using liquid fire starter. While adding more liquid to the hot briquettes, a sudden ignition and explosion of the flammable substance in the bottle occurred. The boy was nearby and sustained burns to his face and neck.

Emergency Response and Transport

Emergency services were called to the scene. The father of the injured child was not under the influence of alcohol. The boy was airlifted by the Polish Air Ambulance (Lotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe) to the hospital in Olsztyn.
