Bystrzyca Kłodzka Shooting: Court Orders Two-Month Detention for Suspect

Following a Friday evening shooting in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, a court has ordered the two-month detention of Borys B., the primary suspect in the 26-year-old’s death.

Shooting and Arrest

The District Court in Kłodzko granted a prosecutor’s request to detain the suspect for two months, according to Agnieszka Połyniak, spokesperson for the Regional Court in Świdnica.

The court cited concerns about obstruction of justice and the severity of the potential sentence as justification for the arrest.

Incident Details

The shooting occurred Friday evening in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, involving three young men who were reportedly intoxicated and harassing passersby.

According to prosecutor Mariusz Pindera, the men confronted a man walking his dog, leading to an altercation. The man returned home, retrieved a semi-automatic rifle, and re-engaged the group.

Fatal Shooting and Initial Reports

A subsequent argument led the man to fire a warning shot, followed by multiple shots that fatally struck the 26-year-old victim. The other two men fled the scene but later turned themselves in to police as witnesses after sobering up.

The shooter initially contacted a police acquaintance to report the incident before being apprehended at his apartment with a large sum of money, packed belongings, and a passport.

Legal Proceedings and Defense

The suspect, a licensed firearms instructor, was charged with intentional murder on Sunday but denied the charges, claiming self-defense. He faces a potential life sentence.

Witness Account

A witness described to “Gazeta Wyborcza” that two teenagers, ages 17 and 18, were drinking alcohol when they encountered the 26-year-old victim, Krzysztof. The three were walking together when the shooter allegedly produced a weapon.

The witness stated the shooter opened fire without provocation, and the 26-year-old exclaimed a challenge before the first shot was fired. The witness claims the initial shot missed, and five subsequent shots struck the victim.

Aftermath and Emergency Response

The teenagers attempted to assist the wounded man, who was suffering from blood loss. The shooter reportedly instructed them to call for an ambulance but then fled the scene himself.
