A 26-year-old man was shot and killed Friday evening in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, Poland, following an altercation involving four men; three are in custody.
Initial Incident and Arrests
The incident occurred Friday evening in Bystrzyca Kłodzka. According to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świdnica, four men were involved—three against one—leading to an argument. One man produced a pistol and fired several shots at the 26-year-old, who died at the scene.
The shooter voluntarily turned himself in to police late Friday night and was detained. The other two individuals involved were apprehended by police Saturday morning; both were intoxicated.
Conflicting Accounts and Investigation
Initial questioning of the detainees has yielded conflicting accounts, hindering a precise reconstruction of events. Investigators have secured surveillance footage.
As of now, the prosecutor has not filed any charges. The detainees will be brought before the prosecutor’s office on Saturday or Sunday.
Possible Prior Attack
According to a Polsat News source, the man who fired the shots may have been attacked earlier. Witnesses reported hearing shouting and arguing around 10 PM, followed by five or six gunshots.
Witnesses claim the man with the gun was attacked by three young, aggressive individuals. Polsat News also reports a similar altercation occurred shortly before the shooting near a liquor store, where the same aggressive group allegedly attacked two other men.
Witnesses told television reporters that the attackers then went to the housing estate and confronted the armed man. The prosecutor’s office confirmed the shooter possessed a legal firearms permit.
