The incident occurred at the popular Engelberg-Titlis ski resort. According to Swissinfo, the cable car detached and subsequently tumbled multiple times down the mountainside.

Senad Sakic, a police representative from the canton of Nidwalden, confirmed during a press conference that one person was inside the gondola and died as a result of their injuries.

Identity of Victim Pending Confirmation

Police are awaiting confirmation of the victim’s identity.

Authorities have refrained from disclosing any information about the victim until official identification is complete. Witnesses are currently being questioned regarding the incident.

Cause of Accident Unknown

The cause of the cable car detachment remains unknown.

Reports from the region indicate strong winds at the time of the accident, but authorities have not yet determined if they were directly related to the tragedy. The cable car system has been shut down, and passengers from other gondolas are being evacuated.

Engelberg-Titlis is the largest ski resort in Switzerland, offering 82 km of slopes.
